If you don't already know, UK residents can set sail on a unique staycation aboard the Disney Magic. There will be limited 2-, 3- and 4-night cruises departing from Liverpool, Southampton, Newcastle, and London Tilbury. You have the opportunity to embark on a brand-new, magical Disney experience close to home and at sea.

Being a huge Disney Parks fan and as someone who has never done a Disney Cruise, I jumped at the chance of taking part in this Magic At Sea experience. Disney have me by my scruffies anyway - so I am not missing out on experiencing this - but with most couples and families there has to be value in any sort of holiday purchase. After breaking down the value of the Magic At Sea cruise, I think - for the money - you're getting a short break that's incredible value.

Let's take the 3- Night London Tilbury cruise as example. The price is based on 2 adults sharing one room (which includes Taxes, Fees & Port Expenses),

  • Inside (room with no exterior view) £1483
  • Oceanview (room with 1 or 2 windows) £1784
  • Verandah (room with a balcony) £1876
  • Concierge (luxurious suites) £3359

  • I would recommend the Verandah room. Even though you might not be spending much time in your cabin on these shorter cruise (and this is coming from a fan of the value Walt Disney World resorts), upgrading to a Verandah would be well worth it if you can. Not just for the ability to open the doors to a balcony, but for the extra roomy feel.

The Deluxe Oceanview with Verandah on the Disney Magic

The Verandah room costs £1876 for 2 adults, that's £938 each. Or, £312 per night per person.

    For your £312 you get each day/night;

  • A stunning nautical Disney themed room with a balcony aboard the Disney Magic
  • All the food and soft drinks your stomach can hold. One evening meal in one of three fine restaurants, various quick-service options open throughout the day for breakfast, lunch, and snacks, and free room service where you can order as many quick-service hot meals as you like.
  • Encounters with over 30 Disney characters, many with unique to Disney Cruise Line outfits
  • Endless entertainment including deck shows, theatre shows, game shows, kids clubs, and lots more.
  • Access to various bars and adult only activities
  • Access to the pools (via the navigator app) and fitness centre
  • Catch a beloved Disney film or watch a new adventure from the comfort of the state-of-the-art Buena Vista Theatre.
  • Did I mention you'll be aboard the Disney Magic?!

It's tough to argue the value isn't there. Especially considering if you try to get one night in a TravelLodge last minute it can cost that much. (Silly and dramatic comparison I know, but you get the idea.)

Remember the price of the cruise is based off two occupants. If there's more than two of you, some rooms can sleep up to five or more. So if you're taking children (or grown-up children) the cost is around £250-400 on a 3-night cruise for each adult or child you add to your room. Which following the examples above, works out at about £80-130 per night for that person. The cost can cary though depending on cruise length and dates.
