If you're curious what the best times and best months to visit Walt Disney World, we'll show the main things to consider through each month on an average year. "Crowd Calendars" are largely pointless these days, but there are some things to be aware of. There isn't a bad time or month to visit Walt Disney World, but there are things to consider which could enhance or hinder your Walt Disney World holiday depending on what your plans are.

The Weather

There's a reason why Florida is called "The Sunshine State". On average there's up to 10 hours of sunshine each day, throughout the year it can get extremely hot and this should be a factor to consider when planning a visit. Keep in mind, the heat feels a lot different than the heat we have in England (whenever we see any). It also does rain almost every day, especially in the second half of the year. At around 3pm you'll probably get a shower, maybe some thunderstorms, but they don't last long.

Peak Times & Prices

There are certain times a year when Walt Disney World is very busy. Going at peak busy times does add to the cost of your holiday. It's also most expensive to travel during school holidays and other peak times. Disney also increase ticket prices and hotel rates at peak times too. You can use this Disney Magic Ticket page to see when the peak seasons are, or see our Disney Magic Ticket Guide.

General Times To Avoid If Possible

There are certain times of the year when it's much busier than average and should be avoided if it's possible. I understand it's not always possible, especially if you have kids. The only times you'll be able to go are the peak times, like the summer holidays.

Times to avoid if you don't want it to be extremely busy include Thanksgiving (end of November), around Christmas until after New Year, July, August (busy times with lots of tour groups), and Labor Day weekend in early September. Other times to avoid (unless specifically interested) is when Disney run special events like the Disney Marathon in January and Epcot events throughout the year.

January

Average temperature range: 16-26C
The first half of the month is usually quite busy as Christmas and New year crowds start to wind down. There are runDisney and marathon events that happen during January, and EPCOT's International Festival of the Arts begins.

February

Average temperature range: 18-26C
Mardi Gras and Presidents' Day happen this month to cause spikes in crowds, and it can be chilly in the evenings. But overall a quiet month if you don't mind the cold.

March

Average temperature range: 21-28C
The weather starts to warm up in March. Crowds are quite low in the first half but they do start to build up as the month goes due to Spring Break. EPCOT Flower & Garden festival usually begins this month.

April

Average temperature range: 24-31C
April is usually a pretty busy month with Spring Break and Easter crowds, expect it to be quite busy.

May

Average temperature range: 28-33C
May is usually not too busy, but this is when the weather starts to heat up.

June

Average temperature range: 31-34C
Lots of rain in June and very hot weather. Hurricane season begins!

July

Average temperature range: 32-35C
The busiest and hottest month of the year due to peak US holidays. If there is one month of the year to avoid, it would be this one. EPCOT Food & Wine usually starts towards the end of July.

August

Average temperature range: 31-34C
One of the most popular times for Brits to visit Walt Disney World due to our summer holidays. The US schools tend to return in mid-August, so if you're going in August, try going in the second half. The weather is again very hot, but Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween party begins.

September

Average temperature range: 29-33C
After Labour Day (first weekend of September) crowds quieten down quite a bit. It's still hot, with a chance of a hurricane. This is our favourite time of the year to go.

October

Average temperature range: 26-31C
The weather starts to cool and the crowds start to build as the peak Halloween season begins.

November

Average temperature range: 21-29C
Christmas season begins and the weather is much cooler. Mickey's Very Merry Christmas parties begin. Avoid Thanksgiving week if you can.

December

Average temperature range: 18-27C
The crowds pick up as the month goes on. The week between Christmas and New Year is usually one of the busiest weeks of the year.
