Dining plan talk has sparked up again due to the dining credit offer launch for US guests. Some Brits are asking why that offer isn't available for us to book for 2023, but our current offer is the up to 4 free nights, which actually can work out better and cheaper than the US dining credit one, especially when you take into account our tickets.
Travel agents - who like me, in some circumstances, can't reveal offers that comes to me from Disney themselves - teased about a new offer using food emojis and the like yesterday, sparking excitement that the dining plan is coming back. It's not. It turned out to be that US dining credit offer.
The number of comments with people saying - even on Mickey From The UK - that they're not going back until the dining plan returns is no small amount. Walt Disney World still has the dining plan snack icon on all the menus, including newly added items. It's almost taunting at this point.
I truly believe Disney want to bring the dining plan back, and I do think they will. Will it be 2024? 2025? Who knows. There is a global labour shortage, there's no doubt about that, but with the high majority of Disney restaurants back in action it's hard to see that as the reason for holding back. What Disney could be doing, is waiting to see how the economy goes and whether travel slows. They'll keep the dining plan in their back pocket to use when they need a big boost of visitors.
