Read on for what's been installed so far, what still needs to happen before opening and how the ride compares with Raiponce Tangled Spin.
What Has Been Installed At Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings?
The central column has been installed. It stands 12 metres tall, weighs 22 tonnes and supports the entire ride. Walt Disney Imagineering Paris confirmed it was in place at the end of October 2026, after months of groundwork, and it now rises above Adventure Way.
"This sort of operation is always tricky, given the large components that need to be installed; especially since this particular project involves numerous highly detailed decorations that we have to handle with care."
- Timothée Pons, Ride Project Engineer at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, October 2026
Decoration has started going on around the mast. Hand-painted murals show a blue sky scattered with clouds, with Russell and Dug drifting upwards under a cluster of colourful balloons. Beneath the canopy, hundreds more brightly coloured balloons will be hung, and the guest seats will dangle from those.
The outside of the canopy gets 16 decorative panels covered in stylised clouds and a starry sky, picked out with gold. Right at the top sits a golden finial of Carl's house being carried off by balloons, which mirrors the Pascal silhouette on the roof of Raiponce Tangled Spin across the path.
What Still Needs To Happen Before Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings Opens?
Quite a lot. The set pieces for the queue are still being produced ahead of installation. When Disney named the ride in April 2026, it said the queue would be split into four zones based on moments from the film, with props including Carl's childhood aviator helmet and goggles and Ellie's adventure book. We covered that announcement in our first look at the Disneyland Paris Up ride.
Then comes testing, which Disney says will begin well in advance of opening day. It hasn't put a month on either.

Once Sky Swings opens, it completes the ride line-up on Adventure Way, with the two family attractions facing each other across the path. It's a flying chair carousel, the old-school swing ride where chairs hang from a rotating canopy and fly outwards as it turns. Disney has said it will have 48 chairs seating 64 people, including several double chairs so you can ride in pairs.
