When Disney rebranded Genie+ into Lightning Lane passes, they made it so it was only available to book while in the US. While we found a workaround (as described in our UK Guide To Booking Lightning Lanes In Advance guide) it frustrated all international guests that wanted to purchase them who couldn't. While The Walt Disney World website still says "these passes can be purchased after you arrive in the US", it appears that the My Disney Experience app allows you to purchase Lightning Lane passes when not in the US without the workarounds. As the website hasn't been updated and nothing has been announced, it's unclear if this is a glitch or whether Disney has enabled international visitors to purchase Lightning Lane passes before arriving in the US.
