Worlds Of Marvel - Disney Wish Restaurant Review

Worlds Of Marvel - Disney Wish Restaurant Review

Review - DCL
07-Feb-2023

There are three rotational dining restaurants on the Disney Wish. 1923, Arendelle, and Worlds Of Marvel. The first restaurant we visited was "Worlds Of Marvel". This was our least favourite of the three. Some light spoilers are ahead. I am a huge Marvel fan and was excited to see what this experience would be like. The restaurant is quite dark (so excuse the poor-quality photos) but the theming is very good throughout including the artwork, plates, and menus. There are large screens across the entire restaurant (over 100) and the tables seemed well placed so that everyone would be able to see a screen, even though there are sizeable pillars throughout.

You of course get soft beverages included, but there are some speciality cocktails and drinks you can enjoy at an extra cost.

After we ordered our drinks we had a look at the menu. The menu overall looks pretty good. There's a nice selection and variety here.

On each of the tables, there's quite a chunky cylinder with a few buttons on it, this is called the Quantum core. We were told to keep an eye on it throughout our meal as we'll have some very important jobs to do. I suited up and was ready to assist, I said to myself.

After you've made your food order your server will bring you the bread service which is marbel loaves with red bell pepper dipping sauce.

The bread was fresh and the dipping sauce was tasty- a very nice bread service! At this point, the first part of the show begins. Ant-Man & The Wasp are talking on screen walking us through quantum tech.

Once that show is over, it's onto the food! There's nothing bad to say about the taste or quality of the food here. We tried a few of the items like the Bao bun which was really delicious.

Both the soups on the menu were nice, and the beef tenderloin was tasty as well. Well cooked and your server will make sure it's cooked to your liking. I asked for it medium and it was on the well-done end of medium but I said it's okay it's still good, he said it's not good enough and took my plate and got my a fresh one within a minute. Disney service is quite astounding at times!

For dessert, we tried the Sticky Date Pudding and the Cheesecake. Nothing amazing here but nothing bad either. Some nice sweet flavours to finish the meal.

Remember, if you're looking at this and thinking the portions might look small, you can order as much of it as you like! One thing I will say is there weren't as many themed food items as I thought there would be. For example, giant & tiny versions of items like there is at Pym's Kitchen at Disneyland Paris.

Throughout the time we're eating dinner in-between the main shows they play a montage of Marvel films on the screens. Now, I'm not sure what else they could do during these times, but it just felt a bit awkward as it wasn't clear if I should be paying attention or not. Turns out, I didn't.

After dinner, it was time for the final act and this is where things start heating up! Ultron appears as the villain to try and steal the Quantum cores! This took me out of it a little bit because all I was doing for the next minute or so was asking myself "OK, so Ultron didn't die? Were there still some bots actually left they didn't know about? Is this even in the prime universe? Is this even canon?". They didn't even get James Spader to do the voice again which was even more jarring!

In the next scene (or a couple of scenes later when I regained my concentration) Ant-Man & The Wasp needed some help so they called in Captain America (Falcon) who lands on the top deck of the Wish! Now that part was really fun! The idea of having this story take place on the top deck which for all you know is actually happening up there because you're down on deck 4!

Captain Marvel and Ms Marvel show up to help as well. There's a fight scene with Ultron and this is where the audience gets to join in. Ant-Man gives everyone the go-ahead to press the buttons on their Quantum core to help defeat Ultron! The cores light up a bit and then it's over.

Ant-Man & The Wasp then come out and walk through the restaurant giving everyone a wave as they walk through. They look exhausted from that fight on the top deck! Finally, a few of the servers then walk around with giant plastic-shaped foods.

A chunk of this experience did feel a bit awkward, and looking around, many people thought the same. Quite a few people were making confused faces, especially after being told to push the button on the Quantum core and all that happens is they lit up and flashed. When the servers started walking around with giant plastic food half the audience clapped the other half kind of looked at each other. I can see what they're trying to accomplish but in my opinion, parts just aren't executed well. Worlds Of Marvel seems to be quite divisive overall. I've looked at many other reviews and people either put this at their top or their bottom. This is a bottom from me.

This was my least favourite of the three rotational dining options. However, that doesn't mean it's bad. There was a nice selection of food and it was all very good, I just feel the entertainment concept is a bit clunky. I think this might be better a second time when I know what to expect and what I need to do and can just enjoy the rest. It will be easy for Disney Cruise Line to shake things up with this, and I hope they do. This was our first meal on the Disney Wish and left a little bewildered by the experience but with full and satisfied bellies.

1923 and Arendelle review links will be put here when those are published.

Our Score 3.5/5
