There are four primary room types onboard the Disney Magic. Inside rooms are usually the cheapest tier available that have no exterior view. Oceanview rooms have either one large porthole or two small ones. Oceanview Verandah rooms are more spacious and come with a balcony. Concierge staterooms are the most luxurious and large accommodations.

Our Room

We stayed in a Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah room. As this was my first ever cruise, I was concerned the rooms were going to be quite small and cramped. Thankfully, they're not. There is definitely no feeling of being claustrophobic in these Verandah rooms, which is only made better by the balcony area.

About The Room

The Verandah room comes with a super comfy queen-sized bed (which has a custom premium plush Euro-top mattress and 300-thread-count, 100% cotton linens), a sofa with a coffee table, plenty of drawers and cupboards, and a spacious wardrobe that contained a safe, hangers, and a dry cleaning services bag if required. As this is primarily an American ship, the plugs onboard are American ones, so make sure you pack a couple of adaptors. There are some USB-A plugs, so you can plug your phone directly into these ports to charge without a plug. There is a built-in hairdryer in the bathroom, but it's rather weak, but thankfully there is another plug-in hairdryer located in the drawer. The room also includes a digital clock, phone, lots of mirrors, and a mini-fridge. There is ample space under your bed to store your suitcases, so you don't need to worry about your cases using up any wardrobe space.

The TV

Each room comes with a 22" LCD TV. While it's a little on the small side, you haven't come on a Disney cruise to sit and watch TV. It's plenty good enough to stick a Disney movie on to keep the kids occupied while you get ready. I left it on the cruise home feature as it plays Disney music in the background. You will find ship information, the activities for the day, along with many Disney movies and TV shows on-demand if you do fancy having something on.

Sofa Bed

These rooms contain a sofa, which does open out into a bed if you have a third person traveling with you. Above each sofa is some artwork of Disney music lyrics.

Bathrooms

Verandah rooms aboard the Disney Magic have a split bathroom design. In one bathroom there's the toilet and a sink, and in the other is a sink and a shower. The layout is great and makes it much easier for two people to be able to get ready at the same time. As a tall guy, the ceiling is quite low in the shower, so watch out for that. The water pressure was good, and there were H20 branded bottles of shower gels, hand soap, and shampoos for you to use. The toilets are typical American-style toilets where they more suck rather than flush. I miss those sorts of little things. Everything was clean and in very good condition.

The Balcony

The balcony area comes with two chairs and a table, and it was really nice late in the evening sitting out there and enjoying the breeze with room service.

Stateroom Host

You're assigned a stateroom host who will be looking after your room. They service your room twice a day. Usually once in the morning and then a turn down later in the evening. Just like a Walt Disney World, your host will leave little surprises, like making animals out of the throws, and making sure your plushies are comfortable.

We had one issue with our room, which was the air conditioning didn't seem to be doing a good job keeping the room that cool, even though it was at its lowest setting. We got in contact with guest services and they sent a maintenance cast member up and they fixed the issue. Our stateroom host checked in on us twice afterwards to make sure we were happy with the room temperature. He also made sure when he saw us in the corridors we knew if we needed anything or had any problems to come to him. So a big shout out to Dattaram who went above and beyond what I'd expect of a stateroom host.

Summary

I am so glad I paid that little bit extra and stayed in the Verandah room. Absolutely no regrets. I think now I've gone Verandah, I don't think I could go without a balcony. The ability to just take a step outside and breathe in that fresh (Irish) sea air makes it worth the upgrade, and that's not even taking into consideration the Verandah rooms being a little larger. While you can't go wrong with any of the room types, I think the Verandah rooms are the sweet spot, and that's coming from someone who really enjoys staying at Pop Century. There's nothing I wish was in the room that wasn't already there. However, there are no tea and coffee making facilities, but room service is just one quick call away with no additional charge for soft and hot drinks. I went to Cove Cafe for my morning coffee anyway. It had everything I needed, and I'm glad these rooms are as spacious as they are and don't feel at all cramped. The most important thing about any room is the bed, and I slept so well on those beds. I am personally so happy the bed is an open frame, as I always kick the foot frames of beds when they have them. If you're someone who generally stays in concierge level rooms, you'll probably go for concierge anyway. Personally, for me, I'd rather do two cruises in a Verandah than in a concierge room once for the same money. The price to upgrade from Inside or Oceanview to Verandah isn't usually too much, and it's totally worth it if you're on the edge of deciding whether to or not.
