We visited Disneyland Paris to attend the Marvel Avengers Campus previews. During the previews, we got to experience the main restaurant inside this new land, Pym's Kitchen. Pym's Kitchen is the new buffet restaurant inside Marvel Avengers Campus, at Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Paris without a doubt needs more food good options and we were excited to try out Pym's during the previews to see if it lived up to the hype.
This restaurant is an all-you-can-eat buffet themed around Ant-Man & The Wasp. Super-smart chefs use Ant-Man and The Wasp's PYM Particle technology to shrink and grow ingredients. Many of the food offerings include big and small versions of certain dishes, and drinks are served in real laboratory-style beakers.
When you first walk in you're taken through the entrance tunnel to the check-in desk. Straight ahead you can see the chef's at work as well as the shrinking/growing machine on the screens above. Small food goes in, and then big versions come out!
There's ample seating and it's all quite spread out well. I had a look around and couldn't see any tables that would feel cramped, which sometimes is the case with buffet restaurants. The seats are comfortable and there's a lot of soft booth seats as well. The carpet design as well is a really nice touch, and matches the light designs around the restaurant.
When you sit down there are colouring sheet placemats on the table that children (or adults) can enjoy.
The condiments on the table are presented in test tubes which have been corked, which I thought was a really nice touch! You also have a large metal stand on your desk where your server comes over and places a delicious pretzel for you to enjoy. Although for some reason I thought the pretzel would be huge. Either way, we only ate about 1/3 of it, so it would have been a waste.
A soft drink is included with the price, but they have one signature cocktail which we tried. It was called "Blue Spritz and Goji Berries". Which contains Sparkling Blue Chardonnay, White Vermouth, Perrier and Goji Berries, presented in a large beaker. It had slight fizz to it, but it was nice and refreshing. There's also signature wines that are colourful and presented in a beaker. Makes you feel like a science teacher having a slug in the cupboard between classes.
Moving on to the food, there's a really good selection of different foods to enjoy. Many of which - especially the hot dogs & burgers - have small and large versions. Click and tap the right side of the images below to scroll throw our photos.
There are so many good food options available. Lots of ham and cheese selections - which is expected in France - as well as a wide range of salads with all sauces and oils presented in Erlenmeyer flasks. There's a good select of bread, and in the kids section is some cheesy pasta, mini-burgers, and fries. There's blue mayo (which does just take like normal mayo), and someone constantly cooking up fresh pasta. Some of the highlights for me was the bbq pork, bacon mash, the mini-burgers, and the jambalaya.
I'm not a huge dessert person but I tried a range and enjoyed them. There's an ice cream machine with three different buttons, but all of which appears to vend the same yogurt flavoured ice cream- which tasted a little strange. The massive Oreo cake in particular was very good, as well as the carrot cakes and crumble. There's also something that looks like a magnum that comes on a metal tray with a blue jelly. It's not a magnum. It's some kind of cake, but couldn't put my finger on what it was, and it had no label. The blue jelly though was delicious- I had a couple of those.
Overall, Pym's restaurant is a hit for me. There's a nice wide selection of different foods, and surprisingly many of them are above average quality for what you'd expect at a buffet. The theming is incredible throughout. From the decor, to the glasses, through to the food. If you enjoyed the Downtown restaurant at Disney's Hotel New York - The Art Of Marvel, I would rate this every so slightly above that. The food is probably on par, but the theming of Pym's is superior in my opinion. A new decent buffet is exactly what Disneyland Paris - especially Walt Disney Studios Park - needed, and that is what it's got.
