About Disney Hotel Cheyenne

Disney Hotel Cheyenne is a 3-star on-site hotel that has a wild west theme that's also inspired by Toy Story. Well, the Woody's Roundup show in Toy Story to be exact. The hotel has 1,000 air-conditioned rooms with each block named after icons of the Wild West. There are no club-level rooms at Disney Hotel Cheyenne unlike Disney Sequoia Lodge and Disney Hotel New York - The Art Of Marvel. That means everyone is riff-raff at Disney Hotel Cheyenne! You can also pay a little extra to stay near the hotel's main facilities, subject to availability. We booked that upgrade on one of the trips and largely felt it wasn't needed. One of the perks I liked about this hotel was there was a Starbucks on-site (there also is one at Disney Santa Fe too) so I could always get a good coffee without waiting in the long queues at the Disney Village Starbucks. There's a regular shuttle outside the main building if you don't fancy the 20-minute walk.

Disney Hotel Cheyenne Entrance & Lobby

The lobby area is generally smaller than Disney Sequoia Lodge, but it does have some similar vibes due to the use of dark wood in the aesthetic. There is a small seating area with three main walkways to the restaurant, bar, and shop. When I first entered the lobby I was surprised by how much I liked it. It has a nice (but subtle) distinct smell (something Disney Newport Bay hotel is lacking and Disney Sequoia Lodge and Disney Hotel New York - The Art Of Marvel excels in). We walked up to the reception and were seen right away. We checked in, dropped our bags off at luggage assistance and headed off to the park as our room would not be ready until 3pm. One trip our room was ready as we arrived, but that doesn't happen too often. Toy Story characters (Woody or Jessie) do come out for photo opportunities most mornings in the hotel lobby, which is a nice touch.

Disney Hotel Cheyenne Exterior

The Wild West theming is apparent in the external building design and is carried through to the interior. For the most part, it works really well. The buildings are well spaced apart and it feels like you're on a Wild West film set. Some of the buildings are a little flat looking, but other buildings - like Starbucks and Laundry - have extra wood elements to their design so they appear more three-dimensional and "real".

Disney Hotel Cheyenne Hotel Amenities

As an avid coffee drinker, I was excited to learn that Disney Hotel Cheyenne has a Starbucks on-site! No more waiting in the morning queues at Disney Village. What's even better is that in 2023, Disney fitted all rooms with a kettle and coffee machine. The only downside to this is the communal coffee machines are gone, and I know a good amount of guests enjoyed getting a hot chocolate which they no longer can. There is a buffet restaurant on-site called The Chuck Wagon Cafe that serves Western-style food. There's a bar called Red Garter Saloon which sells a limited amount of drinks, and a Laundry building which has vending machines and ice. Keep in mind, there's no swimming pool at Disney Hotel Cheyenne.

Disney Hotel Cheyenne Rooms

I have always liked the rooms at Disney Hotel Cheyenne and they do continue to grow on me. I actually think I prefer it (ever so slightly) over the rooms at Disney Sequoia Lodge. Like with the lobby, it has the same sort of vibe with the use of wood, but the Toy Story touches like the boot lamp and lights work really well. It's well equipped with 2 EU, 1 English, and 2 USB-A charging plugs. These rooms also feature a ceiling fan! There's plenty of drawers and hanging space and a safe if you need it. The bathroom is basic but in good condition and the water pressure is really good. The beds were comfy enough and there were plenty of pillows. I had no issue sleeping comfortably in this room. However, the pull-out beds are very uncomfortable, at least for adults. I can't speak to if kids are okay with them, but for adults, the pull-out beds are not nice, so if you have more than 2 adults staying in your room, try and get the room with two double beds. We found there wasn't any English channels and the TV system overall was painfully slow, but that doesn't bother us as we won't sit and watch TV, but something to keep in mind if you need to keep kids entertained for a while.

Disney Hotel Cheyenne Conclusion

We really enjoyed each of our stays at Disney Hotel Cheyenne. I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but thankfully ended up enjoying it a lot more than I thought. Usually this hotel costs a little less than Disney Sequoia Lodge, but Disney Hotel Cheyenne is a little further away from the parks. Disney Sequoia Lodge feels to me like it's just around the corner, but Disney Hotel Cheyenne does feel like quite a long walk, especially after a long day in the parks. Disney says it's a 20-minute walk, but with tired feet, it can feel a little longer. There is a shuttle bus, of course, so if you're one to always take the bus anyway, the walking distance is a non-issue. Overall, I recommend this hotel. This hotel is usually cheaper than Disney Sequoia Lodge, but if the prices are on par, I would choose Disney Sequoia Lodge over Disney Hotel Cheyenne (unless you or your party love Toy Story).
