Avengers Assemble: Flight Force Overview & Review

We visited Disneyland Paris to attend the Marvel Avengers Campus previews. During the previews, we experienced both of the new attractions. One of those attractions is called Avengers Assemble: Flight Force. You need to be at least 1.2m to ride, and it has single rider and Premier Access lines. Here is Disney's description of the attraction:
Heroes wanted! Team up with Iron Man and Captain Marvel and help them save the world from an intergalactic threat. Board one of Stark Industries' new hypersonic vehicles, strap yourself in and blast off for an epic adventure full of twists, turns and loops!
The attraction is a re-theming of the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Avec Aerosmith ride. This rollercoaster propels riders from 0-57mph in just 2.8 seconds. It contains three inversions, which include a sea serpent roll and a corkscrew.

The Exterior

The exterior of the attraction looks incredible. It's like the building has this big metal mesh around it. It doesn't appeal to some people, but I think it looks really futuristic and clean. FRIDAY (Iron Man's AI) occasional speaks from the building, and you can see LED light patterns behind the metal casing as she talks. The Avengers Assemble: Flight Force logo is LED and changes from time to time which is cool.

No matter what you might think of this building design, it's much better than the dated Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Avec Aerosmith design that was there before. Even compared to Walt Disney World, the DLP one looked like something out of a fun fair. The entrance to the attraction is to the left of the Quinjet.

Queue

You walk up past the right side of the building and around the back. When you turn the corner you'll get to choose your line (stand by, single rider, premier access). You'll then zig-zag through the obstacle courses in typical Disney fashion and then you arrive inside the building where the lighting dims.

Down this hallway you're greeted with light-up posters of some of the Avengers. You'll then arrive in a dark room with an Avengers logo centrepiece- a great stop for a selfie!

Pre-Show #1

You'll then enter the room for the first pre-show. There's a large screen showing Iron Man and Captain Marvel talking about an upcoming threat, and with the help of FRIDAY they cycle threw the other Avengers to see what they're up to. Of course, they're all very busy with their own adventures and it looks like we're on our own. Iron Man largely speaks in French, while FRIDAY and Captain Marvel speak in English.

Pre-Show #2

After the part we're taken into the main pre-show room. This is where the infamous Iron Man animatronic is located.

The animatronic is incredible! However, for fellow Brits, Iron Man here only seems to speak in French, but Captain Marvel on the screens is in English. I had no idea what was being said, but we're off to save the world! The Iron Man animatronic was mesmerising to watch. I'm so glad Disney are continuing to use practical props over just using screens all the time.

The Ride

If you've been on Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Avec Aerosmith, you'll know what you're in for. The structure of the ride is the same, and there's still a countdown before blasting off.

Instead of big neon signs, there's several screens placed throughout with Iron Man and Captain Marvel flying around taking you through the story. Like Space Mountain, it can be tough to see what's happening, which means you'll just have to ride it again! The audio of each scene is played in full from your seat, even if you're not watching the screens or have your eyes closed. The ride is much more dark than before, and that corkscrew really creeps up on you in the dark. If you liked the attraction before, you'll like it now.

Summary

Overall, the building design with all the LED's behind it, the LED sign and the queue all look really good and I was really impressed. The whole queue and pre-show section is incredible- we're talking Flights Of Passage good. While the attraction has the same structure as before, I personally just enjoy this rollercoaster for what it is. With the trend of using more and more screens, we need to give credit when imagineers creating fantastic real-world props like the Iron Man animatronic- that's where the magic is.
