This is our review of the Reserved Viewing Area or sometimes called Guaranteed Access to the nighttime show at Disneyland Paris.

Disneyland Paris has started a new trend of expanding beyond their pay-to-skip-the-line service (called Premier Access) to show reservations. Guests can pay up to €24 each to reserve a spot at select shows, parades and the fireworks show. On one of our other nights at Disneyland Paris, we spent the evening at La Forêt Secrète (which you can read about in our La Foret Secrete Review) but on the other night we wanted to make sure we were done with our day in time to see the fireworks from a good spot - and so could review the experience - so we booked a fireworks viewing spot for Disney Tales of Magic.

How To Book

You book it on the Disneyland Paris app. It is be linked on the app homepage for easy access. You choose which night you want to book it for, how many guests (their tickets must be linked), and then pay. When you book Disneyland Tickets, a hotel & ticket package, or a transport, hotel and ticket package you will presented with an option to pre-book a fireworks viewing, otherwise it must be done through the Disneyland Paris app.

Getting There

When the time comes - and Disney says be there 30 minutes before - you find your way to the area (explained shortly). We rocked up probably 10 minutes before showtime, and the area was only about half full at that point in time.

Disneyland Paris Fireworks Walk

What's funny is you have to walk all the way over to Frontierland, turn right, down past the shop and the toilets to get into the area. It really did feel like we were walking into the wilderness! At the end of the path, there are cast members who will scan your QR code and let you in. The pathway has no lighting so it's hard to see where you're going, so you'll need to get your phone's flashlight out.

Disneyland Paris Fireworks Castle

I took the opportunity to get a lovely photo of Sleeping Beauty Castle lit up while walking down the pathway. I don't think I've ever walked down right at the front of the park here before. You keep walking and eventually come to another cast member who will tell you where you can go. You then pick your spot and enjoy the show!

The View

As you can see, you are quite close to the castle. The fireworks look as good just as well from this angle as they do further back; however, some of the drone sequences aren't as effective when you're this close up. Still, it's not bad.

Who This Service Is Good For

✓   A good spot in front of the castle if you're someone who likes being up close to the fireworks
✓   You have a jam-packed day and don't want to waste 30-60 minutes of it getting a spot to watch the fireworks
✓   The cost of €24 isn't bothersome for you to spend on something like this

Who This Service Isn't Good For

✗   If you want the best view and angle to fully enjoy the drone sequences
✗   You want to enjoy the Main Street USA projections with the show
✗   If €24 is a lot of money to you to spend on a reserving a spot

There is consensus that the best place to watch Disney Tales of Magic is outside Walt's, about halfway down Main Street USA. It does start to pile up quite a bit before show time though, so you will have to take the time to get there early for a spot. I always find that Disneyland Paris fills up to the brim during the fireworks show, and if you're not there early, you won't get a good spot - unlike at Magic Kingdom with Happily Ever After. After paying for this reserved area, I personally wouldn't feel the need to do this again. I understand the value it has for certain guests, and they do fill the area most nights, but I do enjoy being a bit further back, especially in a show like this where drones are incorporated into the show. It would be a nightmare to manage, but a reserved viewing area in the middle of Main Street would be excellent. However, if you would rather pay €24 for a guaranteed spot and spend the 30-60 minutes you would need to save a spot and instead enjoying the rest of the park, you might find some value in this.
