We review the Royal Banquet Restaurant at Disneyland Hotel, Disneyland Paris.
Royal Banquet is a character buffet restaurant located inside Disneyland Hotel, Disneyland Paris. There are two restaurants inside Disneyland Hotel, the other one is La Table de Lumiere. Royal Banquet open for lunch to all Disneyland Paris hotel guests but only Disneyland Hotel guests for dinner. It costs a hefty €100 for adults and €50 for kids.
Royal Banquet Review
✅ An absolutely beautiful restaurant with incredible artwork across the whole restaurant
✅ A good range of food that's perfect for seafood lovers
✅ The best character dining experience at Disneyland Paris which never felt rushed like our experience at Plaza Gardens
💰 At €100 it's one of (or the) most expensive Disney character dining restaurants ever
We visited the Royal Banquet on our first night at Disneyland Hotel and booked a table for the 6 pm opening. During your meal, you'll be visited by 4 characters. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, and either Donald Duck and Daisy Duck or Pluto and Goofy. When you enter the restaurant you're overwhelmed with the theming and artwork. This restaurant is beautiful.
The cast members who greeted us and took us to our table were friendly and chatty. We walked past one of the throne tables but sadly weren't allowed to have it as it was just two of us (not that I actually expected them to let us have it).
The tables are nicely laid out with comfortable chairs and themed placemats. You're presented with starter and main cutlery, which is rare for a buffet.
Our server was excellent. He took our drinks order and I asked for a bottle of water and he brought over a bottle of Vittel and presented it to me like a bottle of wine. It's nice to see Disneyland Paris cast members with a sense of humour. I didn't catch his name, but on our receipt, it says Aroul Pras, so shout out to him!
The characters we met were Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Goofy. They were all dressed in their royal best! As we went as soon as the restaurant opened, there weren't many tables full so we got quite a lot of time with the characters and all four were a lot of fun.
There's a good selection of food available at the Royal Banquet. However, as you'll see, it's quite seafood-heavy. I am not a seafood eater but I found enough other items to enjoy. For me, I don't get the full value of this meal because I'm not eating the seafood. My partner loves seafood though, so she rummaged many of the seafood items. I think if you're a seafood lover, the range of food available will be more pleasing to you.
The food overall was very good. One of the best buffets at Disneyland Paris for sure. There wasn't much meat on the seafood items, but it's a buffet, you can just go back and get as much as you like. The letdown in terms of food was desserts. They all look amazing but we didn't find any of them we particularly liked the taste of. I still think I prefer Downtown Restaurant at Disney Hotel New York - The Art Of Marvel Hotel as far as the food is concerned, but overall experience Royal Banquet was very good.
Royal Banquet Summary
Overall Royal Banquet was a positive experience. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning and the servers were polite, funny, and on point. While the food definitely leans more into the seafood side of things, I found there to be enough to eat and enjoy as a non-seafood eater. However, none of the food items were particularly memorable or stood out though. What does stand out is the restaurant itself and the characters in their unique royal outfits.
Disneyland Paris character dining is very expensive. While I am aware Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris are 4500 miles apart, it's hard not to make comparisons, especially when you compare the buffet prices at Walt Disney World. You can get an incredible meal and experience at Garden Grill and Tusker House for $62 (£55) compared to Royal Banquet €100 (£90). However, if you're only visiting Disneyland Paris and want some character dining with good food, this is it.
Royal Banquet is much better when comparing to Plaza Gardens inside Disneyland Park. Plaza Gardens has mediocre food, servers nowhere to be found, characters rushed around, and a whooping €80 price tag. We've never had buyers remorse at a Disney character dining experience before Plaza Gardens. If you're thinking of doing Plaza Gardens, I would absolutely recommend you pay the extra €20 and dine at Royal Banquet instead.
There aren't a lot of good quality places to eat at Disneyland Paris in terms of the food itself, and as I've already said the food at Downtown Restaurant at Disney Hotel New York - The Art Of Marvel Hotel is slightly better than Royal Banquet. However, if you're after a great experience with characters in a stunningly themed restaurant, Royal Banquet is a winner.
