Spider-Man W.E.B Adventure Overview & Review

Spider-Man W.E.B Adventure Overview & Review

We visited Disneyland Paris to attend the Marvel Avengers Campus previews. During the previews, we experienced both of the new attractions. One of those attractions is called Spider-Man W.E.B Adventure. Anybody can experience this attraction, it also has a single rider and Premier Access lines. Here is Disney's description of the attraction:
Unleash your inner hero in an action-packed mission alongside Spidey himself! Peter Parker's Spider-Bots are multiplying beyond control and running amok! It's down to you and your team to board a W.E.B. Slinger vehicle and sling your own webs to catch all the bots before they wreak total techno-havoc across the Campus.
The attraction is located where the old Armageddon - Les Effets Speciaux attraction was. Unlike Avengers Assemble: Flight Force, this is an all-new attraction. Guests join the Worldwide Engineering Brigade (WEB) and Spider-Man to help capture the Spider-Bots that have wreaked havoc on the Avengers Campus.

Entrance & Queue

Situated in a large red building with big black vents to the right of you while walking through Avengers Campus is Spider-Man W.E.B Adventure. As you walk into the attraction, you're greeted with lots of really fun Marvel-themed artwork on the bricked walls. As you enter the inside part of the queue, you start zig-zagging through a large square room, but there's lots of cool props and posters throughout. You then head down the alleyway with more props to explore. You pick up your 3D glasses and wait in the next room. One of the two doors open up and then you're escorted into the pre-show room.

The Pre-Show

Once you enter the pre-show room you'll see that a Spider-Bot is already buzzing around the room. You're introduced to Sharon, an artificial intelligence who will guide you. On the screen, Peter Parker (Tom Holland) appears and tells guests they're going to test out the new W.E.B. Slinger vehicles that allow them to shoot webs like Spider-Man. The Spider-Bot then malfunctions and starts replicating and making a mess of everything. Sharon tells Peter if the Spider-Bots are not stopped they could destroy Avengers Campus and pose a threat to the planet! Peter insists that Sharon doesn't need to contact Tony Stark for help, but she does contact Spider-Man.

Peter runs off and Spider-man magically appears! Spider-Man tells Sharon that they don't need the Avengers to help, they have a room full of recruits (this is you) to assist. The Tom Holland and Spider-Man sections are narrated in French (dubbed over Tom Holland clearly speaking English) but there is a screen to the right with subtitles so English-speaking recruits know what's going on.

There are some really cool effects in this room. There are Spider-Bots walking all over (what seems like) the ceiling and through the vents. There's even a little opening in the vent you can watch them walk past. If you wait until the show is finished, head towards the main screen and you'll see a table of really fun props.

The Ride

The concept of this ride is to score points by shooting at Spider-Bots. Unlike Toy Story Mania and Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin where you use a gun, Spider-Man W.E.B Adventure requires recruits to use their arms! After you enter the ride vehicle and put on your glasses, Spider-Man asks the recruits to shoot at the Spider-Bots as you move from section to section. You pump your arms in the direction of the Spider-Bots and web comes out of your hands and destroys them in the direction you point your arms.

While the tracking technology being used to track your arm movements is impressive and an interesting leap forward, it can be tough (but hilarious) to aim while you're flailing your arms around. It is a little more tiring than the other gun-based attractions- so be prepared! However, it does make you laugh trying to hit the Spider-Bots with the other recruits in your vehicle.

Even though this attraction is already at Disney's California Adventure Park across the pond, it's good to see new attractions being built and investments being made into Walt Disney Studios Park - it's very much needed. Kids especially will love this attraction, it's a really good laugh and a good time. The theming is well done, and the amount of physical props to explore is expansive. It's a great addition to Walt Disney Studios Park.
